Build your own MCP.

The case

Why this class, why now.

01

Adoption is here

MCP is in over a thousand organizations. Anthropic, Microsoft, Google, and the major IDEs all ship with it. The protocol stopped being early.

02

Agencies are charging for it

Five figure setups for custom MCP servers that bridge a client's CRM, docs, and internal tools into Claude. The skill commands money right now.

03

It is genuinely simple

Three primitives. Tools, resources, prompts. Once you build one, you can build twenty. The docs make it sound harder than it is.

04

Future proof

OAuth 2.1 and enterprise IdP support are landing. Registry is shipping. The skills you learn now compound for the next five years.

Chapter list

Nine chapters. About 90 minutes.

  1. Chapter 01

    What MCP actually is

In plain language, not docs speak.

  2. Chapter 02

    Server vs client

Picking your side, and why it matters.

  3. Chapter 03

    Tools, resources, prompts

    The three primitives in depth.

  4. Chapter 04

    Transports

stdio vs HTTP, when to pick each.

  5. Chapter 05

    Build 01

A local MCP for your codebase.

  6. Chapter 06

    Build 02

A hosted MCP that talks to your CRM.

  7. Chapter 07

    Auth

    OAuth 2.1, Okta, Azure AD.

  8. Chapter 08

    Distribution

    Registry, npm, internal install.

  9. Chapter 09

    Live build

    Start to finish, on camera.

What you build

Two MCP servers, on camera, start to finish.

MCP is just three building blocks: tools (actions Claude can call), resources (read-only data Claude can pull in), and prompts (reusable templates). Once you know what each one is for, you know how to design every server you will ever build.

  • Build 01: a local MCP for your codebase. A server that lets Claude search your repo, read project docs, and surface the right files instantly. Lives on your machine, talks over stdio.
  • Build 02: a hosted MCP for your CRM. A deployed server that bridges Claude into a real CRM. Contacts, deals, notes, follow up actions. Talks HTTP, auths via OAuth 2.1.

A straight answer

Who this is for, and who it is not.

This fits if

  • You are comfortable enough with JavaScript or Python to read and modify a server file.
  • You want Claude working inside your own codebase, CRM, or internal tools.
  • You build for clients and want a service you can scope and charge for.

It is not the right fit if

  • You have never written code. Start with AI Coding 101 first.
  • You want a no-code connector. This class writes real servers, in TypeScript by default.

Questions

Before you join.

Is this live or recorded?

Pre-recorded and on demand. Watch when you want, re-watch when you need. Lifetime replay.

Do I need to know JavaScript or Python?

Yes. Comfortable enough to read and modify a server file. The class uses TypeScript by default. Python alternatives are noted where relevant.

What is the difference between Standard and Pro?

Standard gets you the full class plus the live build recordings and working code from both. Pro adds a complete starter codebase you can deploy this weekend, the OAuth 2.1 template, three production examples, and a registry submission checklist.

Can I sell MCP servers as a service after this?

Yes. The patterns in the Pro tier are the same ones agencies are already charging five figures to set up. The class covers what is fair to charge and how to scope the work.

What does Pro give me that I cannot find in the docs?

Working code that runs on day one. The official MCP docs are accurate but light on real world patterns. Pro is the boilerplate, the auth template, and the deployment config you would otherwise spend a weekend assembling.

One protocol. Ninety minutes.
