Bring your task spreadsheet into HyperTask.

Match your columns, review the rows before saving, and export a project’s task list whenever you need a spreadsheet.

If your agency already plans client work in a spreadsheet, you can now bring that list into a HyperTask project. Keep the owners, dates, statuses and other supported task details together, check the result before saving, and take an up-to-date task list back out when you need one.

  • Match familiar columns such as Task, Owner and Deadline.
  • Review errors and choose exactly which rows to import.
  • Export active project tasks, including those beyond the board’s display limit.

Use the columns you already have.

Open a project’s CSV menu and choose Import tasks from CSV. HyperTask suggests matches for familiar column names, and you can change each match or skip a field you do not need. Task title is the only required column.

Bring over descriptions, assignee names, status, priority, start and due dates, estimates, progress, tags and task types. Choose the timezone for dates without a time, so a deadline stays on the intended day. An assignee name does not invite someone or grant them access.

Start with the downloadable example if you are making a new list. Each file can contain up to 100 tasks and be up to 1 MB; split a larger list into smaller files.

Catch mistakes before you save.

The preview shows the source row number, task title, status and assignee. If a date or another value needs attention, the row explains what to fix. You can correct the file and upload it again, change a column match, or deliberately uncheck the row.

Selected rows with errors cannot be imported. The rows you do choose save together, so a validation error does not leave half of that import in the project.

Decide how imported work should start.

Newly imported tasks start private to the team. Task-created automations stay off unless you check the option to run them. That lets you bring in existing work without automatically starting the actions you normally use for brand-new tasks; enabled automations can still change task settings.

If a connection retry repeats the same unchanged import request, HyperTask returns its completed result without adding another copy. A new import adds new tasks: it does not find and update existing tasks by their title.

This update moves core task details. Custom fields, files, documents, checklists and relationships between tasks are not included, so keep the original material when you need those details.

Take a task list back to a spreadsheet.

Choose Export project tasks to CSV to download the project’s active, non-trashed tasks. It includes tasks beyond the board’s display limit and uses the whole project, rather than the current view’s filters. People with view access can export; importing requires an editor role.

Open the file in Excel, Google Sheets or another spreadsheet app to review the list or prepare your own client update. The export includes the supported task fields and protects text that could otherwise be treated as a spreadsheet formula.

Exports can be up to 25 MB. They read the current task list while downloading, so they are useful working spreadsheets rather than a complete project backup.

Try it in your own workspace.

  1. Download HyperTask 1.3.0 from your portal and follow the included upgrade guide for your installation.
  2. Open a project, choose CSV, and download the example or select Import tasks from CSV.
  3. Upload your list, choose the date timezone, match the columns and review the rows. Fix or uncheck rows that need attention.
  4. Choose whether task-created automations should run, then import the selected tasks.
  5. Use Export project tasks to CSV whenever you need a spreadsheet of the active task list.
