Get started with Media Studio
Media Studio is your own file workspace for client projects. It is included with DevLaunch All Access and runs in your own installation.
Installing for the first time
Download the source ZIP from your portal library, extract it into an empty folder and read START_HERE.md, INSTALL.md and LICENSE.md. You need Node.js 22.13 or newer, npm and a modern browser.

npm run devOpen http://127.0.0.1:3280. The local workspace uses persistent file and database storage on your computer. It needs no domain, provider account or email service. Local recipient verification shows a test code and sends no email.
Updating an existing copy
For version 0.3, follow UPGRADE_0_3.md in the download. Back up your files and records, and preserve your existing private configuration, signing secret, storage and custom source. Extract the new ZIP separately, run its read-only customization check and review a Git merge or patch before applying the pending migration. Keep the included lockfile. Verify existing files, versions, comments and protected links after restarting.
Try a complete client project
- Open Client projects → Project templates. Save an empty folder structure and a short list of files you need from clients.
- Use the template to create a client project. Check its staff access before adding private work; folders inherit their destination’s existing permissions.
- In File collection, set a requested item’s deadline and create its upload-only link. You can also mark a project file received or explain why an item is not needed. Marking it not needed pauses its client upload link.
- Upload a small document and spreadsheet using Open files. In Approval rounds, select the files, save a private round and inspect it before publishing a client link.
- Have the client review the selected versions together and approve or request changes. If you revise a file, upload a new version, compare both previews and prepare a new round.
- After approval, download the exact reviewed files as a ZIP from the client page or Handovers. Return to Overview for missing files, pending rounds, stored versions and expiring links.
Keep the reviewed originals
Rounds support up to 100 files and 200 MiB together. They reference immutable original versions. Moving, restricting or trashing a selected file withholds the public round. Keep originals in their project for future handovers; permanent deletion requires withdrawing the referencing rounds. Downloads already received cannot be recalled.
Previews are read-only. Office previews show text or cached cells, and media playback depends on browser codecs. Side-by-side comparison does not automatically detect changes. Due dates do not send reminders.
Host in your own account
Follow INSTALL.md for your Cloudflare Workers, D1, R2 and Access configuration. Hosting and storage costs are separate. Hosted recipient verification requires your own verified sender and Resend account. Test authentication, private access, client links and recovery in your installation before adding real client files. The included recovery tool currently restores local emulation.
