1. Open your downloaded Build folder
Download your purchased ZIP from the DevLaunch download library and extract it. Open the extracted folder in your coding assistant or terminal. Use macOS, Linux, or WSL2 with Node.js 22.12 or newer and Bun installed.
Already have a Clerk or hosted installation? Keep it intact and use a separate fresh extraction for Personal. Do not reset an existing database to change setup modes.
2. Run the installer and choose Personal
The installer prepares dependencies and local storage, then opens the app. Leave its terminal running. Closing the process stops the app.
node scripts/install.mjs
You’re ready to continue when: The installer opens the local URL, normally http://127.0.0.1:5173. You see the builder without needing Clerk sign-in.
3. Connect your model
Model usage may incur provider charges or use your subscription allowance. The optional local Codex connection requires its CLI to be installed separately.
- Open Settings → Models.
- Create or unlock your encrypted credential vault when prompted.
- Connect an available provider using your own credentials. Enter secrets in Settings, not in a chat message.
- Choose an available connected model for your new project.
4. Make one small, real project
Build a responsive three-page website for a fictional landscaping company: Home, Services, and Contact. Use clearly fictional business information. Add working navigation and accessible mobile layouts. Do not invent customer testimonials. If a form needs a backend connection, explain what is needed before calling it functional.
You’re ready to continue when: You can see generated files, open the preview, and request a follow-up edit.
5. Open Build again later
Run this from the same Build folder to return to your installation. Use bun run doctor for a setup report. After updating the codebase, rerun node scripts/install.mjs to apply pending local setup steps while preserving existing state.
bun run dev:local
